
GENERAL LABORER I - YARD ATTENDANT
Overview:
This position requires physical labor and is responsible to help meet the equipment and site needs of contractors and delivery companies by maintaining a clean and organized work environment and demonstrating the operation of rental equipment, maintaining cleanliness of job site(s), and following all site and safety regulations.
A strong work ethic and attention to detail are essential. Take pride in working alongside other respected construction laborers to provide top-quality construction services in commercial settings. Willingness to travel is a must as job sites are located throughout Michigan.
Position Qualifications - Minimum Requirements:

High school diploma or GED is required.

Must have a valid driver’s license, a reliable vehicle, be willing to use to haul material, and be insurable.

Vocational school or trade apprenticeships a plus
-
Three years’ experience is desired, but not required.

OSHA 30 Certification is preferred but not required

Must be 18 years of age
-
Ability to physically stand, bend, squat, and lift up to 40 pounds; occasionally lifting up to 100lbs.

Exposure to bright lights, extreme temperatures, loud noise, dust, gas and/or fumes.

Frequent holding and grasping with the hands when loading and unloading equipment
-
Frequent use of foot/feet to operate foot pedal/s on equipment and trucks
-
Must have a working smart phone and basic hand tools

Good interpersonal skills and communication with all levels of management
Principle Accountabilities:
-
Unload tools, prepare building site materials, stack building materials, demolition, and set up equipment
-
Follow project instructions from General Laborer III, Site Superintendent, or construction/Project Manager.

Prepare construction site(s) by organizing the jobsite and cleaning obstacles and hazards.

Direct traffic safely around the construction or road maintenance site

Loading/unloading equipment for customers and drivers
-
Upon unloading of equipment, checking for damage to equipment
-

Refueling of gasoline or diesel, oil, propane, water levels for equipment, pressure washers and lift vehicles
-
Testing equipment to make sure it works properly
-
Assisting in the cleaning and maintenance of rental discharge, suction and other hoses
-
Cleaning of larger rental items, at times using a pressure washer
-
Use of high-pressure washers for cleaning of equipment
-
Checking hour meters on equipment for use
-
Provide assistance to equipment operator, carpenters, and other skilled labor when necessary
-
Follow all site health and safety regulations
-
Ensure regulated and proper personal protection equipment are worn
-
Safely operate a variety of tools including pressure washers, jackhammers, drills, saws, grinders, etc
-
Cleaning jobsite and yard by sweeping shop floors, rearranging rental equipment or using pressure washer to clean the yard.

Ensure construction equipment and tools are cleaned and stored properly
-
Complete all assigned tasks in a timely and efficient manner
